Usage
  • cast spirit hammer <options>

The 'spirit hammer' spell creates a hammer made of magical energy that may be used as a weapon to defend the caster in a time of need. The magical hammer is well suited to the caster in alignment, and more powerful weapons can be created at higher levels.

The caster has some control over the final product. The 'two' option can be used to produce a hammer requiring both hands to wield. Also, since the hammer is a magical artifact, one of the damage types 'zap', 'fire', 'ice', 'wind', 'poison' or 'magic' may be specified. In the absence of any specified damage type, the preferred element of the caster's god is used.

The hammer will dissipate after a certain length of time, usually within a few hours.

Options

You can specify a one- or two-handed hammer. A two-handed variant has a slightly higher dieroll.

  • c 'spirit hammer' — one handed hammer
  • c 'spirit hammer' two — two handed hammer

You may also specify the elemental damage of the hammer. The default type is that of the caster's god (or magic for no god). Available types: zap, fire, ice, wind/breath, magic.

  • c 'spirit hammer' fire — one handed fire hammer
  • c 'spirit hammer' two zap — two handed zap hammer

Note: toxic/poison is not normally available on spirit hammers and is not a valid option when creating one. However, if the god your character follows has the element "entropy", then the default spirit hammer cast with no element option will, in fact, be toxic. Therefore the only way to get a toxic spirit hammer is to follow an entropic god (currently only Valront, Kenai, or Vember).

Nonorm special effect

Introduced in change [2256], there is a small chance based on your skill for your hammer to appear as nonorm in addition to its other types. It will have a lower dieroll than a standard hammer, but being nonorm generally overcomes the lower dieroll.

Tips

  • Faerie Fire is a Cleric curse which reduces the target's armor; hitroll lets you pierce armor, so by cursing your target with Faerie Fire you are effectively gaining hitroll against that target. This gains even more value in a group, as all melee attackers against the target will benefit.
  • Bless is a Cleric spell that increases your hitroll. Combined with Faerie Fire, this allows a massive amount of effective hitroll.
  • Spirit Hammer lets you customize the damage type, which means you can always have the right damage against the enemy.
