A suncatcher is a powerful magical artifact carved by druids to store light. Stored sunlight can be used in a number of different ways, from lighting rooms to destroying undead and burning opponents.
After carving your suncatcher, you must 'hide' it so that it can gather sunlight. Suncatchers don't disappear across reboots or leak light at night, so you can hide or gather them at any time.
Suncatchers cost a small amount of gold to initially create.
Suncatchers are one type of lightcatcher — magical light-storing bottles carved by druids. See also Starcatcher and Mooncatcher.
How to make and fill light catchers
This example is for a suncatcher:
- First you need the bottle. This costs 150 gold for a suncatcher and 300 for a starcatcher, and can be bought from anywhere on the mud with carve suncatcher create. This makes the lowest-level bottle.
- Carve it to the desired level with carve suncatcher. Each carve has a chance to shatter the bottle and lose it forever; a higher skill level reduces that chance.
- Find a suitable spot to leave it charging, then hide suncatcher. Location matters — desert is the best terrain.
- Once daylight has passed, collect it with gather suncatcher.
