This skill is used to find hidden or non-obvious things. In the course of searching, you may uncover hidden exits, concealed doors, hidden objects, or even hiding thieves.
Thieves with knowledge of the hide skill will have a better chance of finding things when searching.
While it may take several attempts to find something that is well hidden, those well versed in the skill are more likely to notice clues that there is something hidden even if they don't discover it outright.
Knowledge of the searching will allow you find larger pieces of wood when gathering firewood and gives a small bonus to success when gathering and prospecting for various resources.
For those that have knowledge of trapping explicitly searching doors, exits or objects may also reveal traps.
