The animal lore skill is the foundation of the druid animal handling skills. When you use the 'consider' command an animal or lycanthrope, you will get a rough idea of its strengths and weaknesses, and whether or not it is poisonous.
The animal lore will help you find animal-based edibles when foraging in the wild.
If you know animal lore and survey, you may recognize the edges of animals' territory when surveying.
