Covers some of the notable events, changes, updates and projects that happen during the year 2017.

Coding Projects

There were a huge amount of changes and new spells and skills added in the year 2017, as the new coder shadowfax and draak got to grips with the codebase, Many more new options, skills and spells were added as alter aeon became more and more a crafting style mud.

Skills and Spells

• a ranged weapons system
• a hunting system which made use of the ranged weapons.
• a cooking system which made use of meat obtained from hunting.
• a mining system which was split into prospecting and excavation, allowing the gathering of spell components, rocks for knapping and extracting of ores for metal crafting..
• various improvements to the warrior class to add more finesse when fighting, beyond the standard power attacks.
• a water spell group for druids
• complete revision of the cleric class including the way heal spells worked

Building Projects

The year saw a large influx of new builders and release of areas, work continued to be carried out to update and make the newbie island more relevant including new class starting zones and towers of challenge, some of the building projects worked on during the year 2017 included:-

The Dreamteam

From Morpheus and his team of builders:-

• Five new towers based off of the tower of the quizmaster from the Halloween 2016 event. The towers will be placed at key locations near the main towns and cities on the newbie islands.
• additions to the Town of Northshore
• reworking of the trow village
• new additions to the nightmare plane later in the year
• additions to the Continent of Gianasi
• a new area below the city of kings

Team Shadowdraak

From the elemental brothers Shadowfax, Draak and team Shadowdraak:-

• Suboria updates, Draak plans to create one rack per quarter finishing with the palace of the dragon emperor at the end of the year.
• Smoothing over the first two newbie islands of Sloe and Kordan
• Improving new newbie class loading zones and adding extra storyline.

Brak and Meccano

After the successful completion and remodeling of a new Atlantis, Meccano and Brak are working on further extensions to the city, including the great library of Atlantis, containing a hidden secret deep below the fabled city, and the Atlantis Academy where the studious Atlantians continue their pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.

January

• New areas: The tunnels of the Kuo-toan tribe, The Ice Wastes, western Suboria, The Town of Northshore, The Lost Outpost, The Takari Trade Road, eastern Dunn Hurr, Gocholandia, Central Sloe, Shadowclaw swamp
• email changes
• Increased boat gold and credit prices
• Allowed shadow strike to be used while tanking.
• All publicly available channels changed to avatar moderated.

Febuary

• New areas: Atlantis, Skull caverns, A remnant of Drakdrol, The Inner Sea of Suboria
• New equipment set commands eqset rehome and eqset replace added.
• Major changes to the way drunkenness works.
• Internal attack/speed changes
• Added a milking achievement.
• Added a beak damage type.

March

• New areas: The Alarba desert, land of legends
• New druid spells walk on water, riptide, flood, maelstrom and the obscure spell fecundity
• St Pattie's day 2017 event.
• Limited max cost of a practice to 60 times your exp cap.
• Implemented visibility tracking for Alter Aeon's satellites. See 'help moons'.
• Extended sight increases the distance that one can scan.
• poison resistance skill no longer quest locked.
• Starcatcher fury detonations no longer gives mob death experience.
• Improved how double exp areas are selected.
• Allowed more damage types for bloodletting stab.
• Removed cooldown from flourish.

April

• New areas: The Vemarken tower of Learning, The Giant's Knee, by Lake Jungfrau
• Double experience modes were made automatic.
• Raised experience caps by about a third for high levels.
• New woodcraftable objects and woodcrafting upgrades.
• new druid skill carve fetish
• debuffs for the thrust skill.

May

• New areas: The Ice Barrier, southeast Suboria, An abandoned mine, The Island of Morjah
• Disenchants now only require a white soulstone instead of a black soulstone
• Allowed reforging of weapons
• Added ability to gather honey and stone bullets for slings
• New mining and ore processing added
• Cleric update 2017 including opening of newbie cleric starting zone.
• new warrior skill shield slam
• new mage illusions skill tree and new mage spells hue, magic hand, rorshach, silouhette, kaleidoscope, deflection
• Added wooden tower shields to woodcrafting

June

• New areas: The Naphtali tower of Learning
• Summer Solstice 2017 event
• Healer check commands hphurt, hptank and hpall updated.
• Mining updates to add a lot of new stone types.
• Moonlight added

July

• New areas: Yuki Province, Suboria
• exp rework 2017
• recast feature added

August

• New areas: The Atlantis Academy, The Atlantis Library
• Tensors discs with less than twenty minutes left on their timer can

no longer be auctioned.

September

• Filter out paired letter spam from most channel sends.
• Add new skills bone arrow, bonecrafting, spectral claw, fletching, bowyer, marksmanship, point blank combat, quickloading, firearms proficiency.
• new account infrastruture
• ranged weapons
• Reduced shadow strike effectiveness in pk.
• entangling roots and bloodmist made demons minions
• Sunlight no longer strips darkening from group members.
