Points are a resource earned for performing various actions in the game. There are currently three types:
Explorer points, which are gained by exploring areas with your character. Areas have a certain number of these that they can give out, visible with the where command.
Combat points, which are gained by defeating difficult enemies. They are currently the only kind of points that have a use, being able to be spent to improve skills or spells.
Newbie helper points, which are awarded randomly when you use the gift command to give a gift to a newbie.
