'''Crowd control''' is a technique of managing and manipulating mob movement and behavior to obtain an advantage or create more favorable conditions, typically it is used to balance combat strength and prevent mobs overwhelming players through sheer numbers. Crowd control is sometimes overlooked as a tactic which can have the affect of making fights unnecessarily more difficult than they need to be at the detriment of the xp/time rate.

Some reasons as to why crowd control might be used:-
* to create safe zones for [[regeneration]]
* to save time when clearing an area
* to reduce the risk of been killed by swarms of mobs
* to get rival mobs to fight each other
* to quickly get past blocking mobs
* to avoid fighting annoyance mobs that might otherwise waste time and resources, for very little [[xp]] gain.

* [[taunt]] – for encouraging mobs to attack

* [[enrage]] – for drawing attacking mobs away from weaker targets and onto self
