Types

During 2015, the god and world builder, Shadowfax expanded the job code to include different jobs types. The command {{icode job find <type>}} can be used to list jobs of a particular type. The available job types are 'retrieval', 'hunter', 'delivery', 'priest', 'custom', or 'all'.

Retrieval

Involves finding and collecting various items for mob collectors e.g. rare spell components for alchemists. Items can be virtually anywhere and are sometimes difficult to find. To complete jobs it is helpful to have good knowledge of where various items load across the mud, as well as knowing scryer spells like locate object and farsee. These jobs are usually accepted from shopkeepers and the items they require will be of the particular type they sell e.g. herbs, spellcomps, books, weapons etc

Xorn the herbalist tells you, 'I need to brew some special potions soon, but I am low on uncommon ingredients. If you could bring 'a dandelion root' to me, it would help quite a bit.'

Hunter

These type of job involve hunting down and slaying a specified target. The mob is chosen at random, and depending on the job giver, will be of a particular type e.g. Colette from the Green River Valley will request the killing of a gaint. It is not necessary to bring the corpse back, once the mob is dead simply return to the job giver and talk to them, to claim the bounty.

Colette tells you, 'We have placed a bounty on 'an ogre-mage'. Giants like that have no place in our world.'

Delivery

Involves delivering a package or letter to a particular mob, which will return to sender if not delivered in time.

A postal worker tells you, 'I have a parcel here that needs to be posted immediately for 'Finivar the Green'. It's already been paid for in advance, so you can keep any fee you collect.'
a package for Finivar the Green

This is a small package wrapped with butcher paper with the recipient and
address clearly written in bold print.
It is in new condition and will last for 5 hours.

Priest

These type of jobs are accepted from the priests of a character's chosen god. The reward for completing this type of job is favor and an experience cap. They have the following random subtypes:- pilgrimage, alms, oblate, missionary, minister and seeker.

Pilgrimage

This type of priest job involves going on a pilgrimage to a sacred spot and praying. The location is choosen randomly from a list of rooms. The room name and the area will be given, however sometimes it will be necessary to pray at multiple rooms with the same name to find the one that is required.

a priest of Shadowfax tells you, 'Shadowfax has decreed that you embark on a journey to Natchsburg's town square in The city of Natchsburg. Go thither and pray to complete your pilgrimage.'

Alms

This type of priest job involves paying a specified amount of alms.

Waerstan, turcoplier of the Light tells you, 'We require funding for Shadowfax's holy purpose. We need 1449 gold coins in alms as soon as possible.'

}}

Oblate

Requires the sacrificing of objects to the choosen deity.

a priest of Shadowfax tells you, 'Shadowfax is desirous of worshipful oblations. Sacrifice objects of value until Shadowfax is satisfied.'

Minister

Requires the casting of a bless spell on a randomly selected mob.

an Aztec missionary tells you, 'Draak needs you to minister to John the Barman using a 'bless' spell.'

Seeker

Requires seeking out a holy relic for the priest. This type of job is not available on the newbie islands, as there are not enough holy objects there, to make it worthwhile.

Missionary

Requires delivering a tract to a randomly slected mob.

Deliver a tract about 'Draak' to 'Gwenhelia the Barmaid' in 'Village of Huixtocihuatl'

Custom

These are non-repeatable jobs created by actual builders rather than autogenerated by the jobs code. when first introduced, a number of quests, involving the retrieval of objects, were converted into custom jobs.
