Gambling are side games that were introduced to the mud in December 2012. Currently there are three games available, two can be used to gamble and win gold (slots/merchant) while the third can be used to randomly change equipment stats. To view the current games available type gamble

Slot game

This is a gambling game much like a fruit machine or a one armed bandit. There are three spinning wheels each with a set of symbols on. Match two or more symbols for a prize and match all three to reveal a forth hidden wheel for the chance to win the jackpot.

Syntax

gamble slot <gold>

You can gamble anything between 10 and 10000 gold on each spin.

Wheel Symbols

The symbols on each wheel are:-

  • gold coin
  • gold ring
  • turkey drumstick
  • orc head
  • poison dagger
  • lightning bolt
  • ice elemental
  • red dragon
  • void


Prizes

  • Jackpot x250
  • 3 gold coins = x50 + shot at jackpot
  • 3 of a kind = x15 + free casting + shot at jackpot
  • 2 gold coins & gold ring = x10
  • two of a kind = money back

Merchant Game

In this gambling side game, introducted as part of the Valentine's Day 2013 event, you assume the role of a merchant traveling from town to town to sell your wares. There are up to seven wheels for this game:-

  1. your cargo
  2. destination
  3. travel wheel 1
  4. travel wheel 2
  5. travel wheel 3
  6. town event
  7. goods demanded

Syntax

type gamble merchant <gold>

Goods wheels

  • weapons
  • furs
  • glassware
  • hardwoods
  • wheat
  • spices
  • clothes
  • jewelry

Event wheel

  • The forest nearby has been on fire, reducing wood supplies. (hardwoods)
  • There will be a royal ball soon. (jewelry)
  • There is war afoot in the region! (weapons)
  • The region is in the midst of famine! (wheat)
  • A large wedding is coming up! (clothes)
  • There is a spice shortage (spice).
  • There has recently been a big earthquake! (glassware)
  • The weather has been unusually cold (furs).

Town wheel

The towns and cities used are taken from actual towns and cities in the game.

  • the ocean city of Elborat
  • Darcadia in the Shii'lok Mountains
  • Jo'Kerin, the Undead City
  • the kingdom of Vandar
  • the city of Zin
  • the city of Behr'zok
  • Gad's Landing on Archais

Traveling wheels

On each spin there is a chance to be caught by bandits ending the game.

  • You travel through a narrow and high mountain pass...
  • You travel through the plains for days on end...
  • You travel over an ancient metal bridge...
  • You travel through a narrow and high mountain pass...
  • You ford a mighty river with your cargo...
  • You travel through endless desert...
  • You cleave your way through a thick jungle...
  • You make your way through a forest...
  • You are ambushed by thieves and have to abandon your cargo!
  • You are beset upon by bandits, and flee with only your life!

Prizes

You only get something if you make it to the destination town.

Money back

If the town does not demand your goods then you get your money back.

Premium=

If the town demands your wares the prize can range upwards of 100% profit.

Gambling Gold

Gold from daily gifts can only be used for gambling. To see how much you have type gamble

Gambling is something you can do on Alter Aeon in your spare time.
Gambling uses gold, and you may occasionally win special prizes in
addition to your normal winnings.  Syntax:
gamble slot <amount>       - the 'three gold rings' slot machine
gamble merchant <amount>   - the 'travelling merchant' slot machine
gamble reforge <item>      - gamble to reforge an item
