The channel history plugin saves important events such as channel messages, spells falling, unique items found and more. These messages can be heard with the screen reader, copied to the clipboard or pasted in the command window for easier sending.

Categories
By default, the channel history starts listening to the 'all' category so you can read everything
that happens. However, you can always switch to a different category. Some of the most popular categories are:
* all: Saves all messages.
* Group: Saves group tells and events such as when members die.
* tells: Saves tells received from other players.
* channels: Saves messages related to communication channels such as zt, gossip, xp, etc.
* clan: Messages from your clan.
* auction: Messages related to auctioned items.
* Short ID: stats of items from auction and that you identify are saved in condensed form
here, if you have that option enabled.
* Arena: shows messages related to fights in pk arenas.

These categories can be moved about and deleted to match your needs. (You might want to have
the 'tells' category close to 'all', and channels after that, for instance.)

hotkeys
The hotkeys to control channel history are:
* alt+right and alt+left arrows move to next and previous category
* shift+alt+right and shift+alt+left move this category to the next or previous position,
allowing you to change the positions of categories. (These hotkeys might conflict with your
screen reader, in which case you'll need to use the pass through gesture. In Jaws, this is insert+3.)
* alt+delete - deletes a category. The category will be recreated when a message related to it is added to it.
* alt+1 through alt+0 - read recent message 1 through 10. pressing one of these keys twice
quickly will copy the message to the clipboard, and 3 times will paste it into the command window.
* Alt+up and down arrow: move up or down through messages in a history category.
* Alt+space: repeat the message that currently is selected with the arrow keys
* Alt+shift+space: copy selection
* Alt+page up/down: move up or down by 10 messages
* Alt+home/end: move to the top or bottom of a category. Each category remembers the newest 100 messages.

Xerahttp://wiki.alteraeon.com/index.php?title=Sid_plugin&diff=4090Sid plugin2020-07-29T09:25:47Z
Xera: new page

The Mush-Z sid plugin is an advanced alternative to the standard server shortID, it allows for a greater customization of the output and has a richer set of features. It is highly configurable however it may require an initial outlay of effort to learn and optimize it to your own personal preferences. To help those used to the standard Mush-z shortID syntax adjust 'sid' or 'sid on/off' is similar to 'config shortid', 'sid history all' is similar to 'config shortall' and 'sid comma' is similar to 'config shortidcomma'.

Getting started and installing the plugin
To install the plugin, Press Ctrl+Shift+P, Alt+A and select the mushz_sid.xml file. To use the plugin you must make sure config shortid is set to "1 - Disabled" in Mush-Z, or if you are not using Mush-Z that 'set shortid' is toggled to the long format. Once installed the plugin's features can be toggled on and off by typing 'sid' or 'sid on' or 'sid off'.

How to use Sever shortID instead
To use server shortID instead you must first remove the plugin, Press Ctrl+Shift+P scroll down to mushz_sid and press Alt+R, then set 'config shortid' to "2 - output and history", or type 'set shortid' if you are not using Mush-Z.

Getting help
Beyond the help provided in this guide you may type 'sid help' at any time to quickly review the syntax of the verious commands. To view the latest changes type 'sid changes' adding a number e.g. 'sid changes 3' if you wish to see more than the latest entry. To confirm which version you are on type 'sid version'.

Display mode
The sid plugin has three display settings none, shortID and longID these can be toggled by typing 'sid display'. None hides everything inside the kxwt_id band this means you may get no output when identifying something or just a line saying "You are carrying" and the name of the item. ShortID is the default and shows the short string based on your preferences. LongID shows the unmodified verbose string that is sent by the server.

Further changing the display
The sid plugin has a host of misc options for further customizing the display to your personal tastes, note these will only apply to the 2nd display mode, the 1st display mode will hide everything and 3rd mode will show the unmodified longID format, as explained in the section display mode.

To toggle adding of commas type 'sid comma', if you like to see "Item:" in front of the item you can type 'sid item_prefix' to enable this. Typing 'sid container' will always show item size for containers this can be useful if you have the item_size field set to hidden because you don't want to see it on other items.

Extra lines
By default the sid plugin will hide a lot of extra lines of text to keep the output as brief as possible however these can be reenabled, 'sid extra' will show extra footer lines such as composite text and 'sid unmatched' will show anything that is unmatched inside the kxwt band, an example of this would be on the mark of the dragon watch, the following line could be shown or hidden, depending on the setting:

Showing and bragging items
Typing 'show id' or 'brag id' will show or brag the most recently identified item, Adding a number will specify a specific item to be shown or bragged for example 'brag id 2' will output the 2nd item you identified. Fields may also be specified for example 'show id level affects' will show the current item's level and affects. Finally using the word full will output all fields for example 'brag id full'.

By default brag will use the say channel however this can be changed by typing a channel after the word brag for example 'brag gt id weight'.

Field Customization
The sid plugin has a powerful set of commands that allow you to completely customize how an item is either shown or bragged.

Any number of fields maybe shown or omitted by default. To include a field in the display type sid show add field for example 'sid show add weight', To hide a field from the display type sid show remove field for example 'sid show remove item_size'. For a list of all the valid options type 'sid fields'. To do this for the bragged output simply substitute the word show for the word brag for example 'sid brag add bound'. This command also accepts an all option so for example 'sid show add all' or 'sid show remove all' will add or remove all the fields from the show output.

Field aliases
To make it easier to type and remember some of the fields have aliases, which can be viewed by typing 'sid aliases' for example 'sid brag add ac' could be used instead of 'sid brag add defense'.

Reordering fields
The order in which fields are outputed can be changed by typing sid order field number for example 'sid order defence 1'. To see the current sequence type 'sid order list'. The commands 'sid show list' and 'sid brag list' can also be used as a reference to how items will be outputed.

Affects
Affect names come in two flavors: a shorter and a longer version, which can be toggled by typing 'sid affects'. The shorter strips the word down as much as possible for speed of reading but can sometimes be difficult to interpret, for example magecast level is abbreviated to mcl where as on the longer version it is magecast.

Sorting affects
Affects can be sorted by typing 'sid sort' by default they are unsorted and are listed in the order they are sent from the mud however by toggling to sorted they will be listed in order from highest to lowest, note when disenchanting you should toggle to unsorted or use 'show object item' instead this is because disenchant requires an affect number.

Reviewing item history
Adding shortID to channel history
The shortID plugin can interact with the channel_history plugin by populating the shortID buffer with items that are identified to do this type 'sid history' and to toggle adding to the all buffer type 'sid history all'. These settings will work regardless of which display mode you use so it is possible to view the longID or even hide the output all together and still have it save to the history buffers.

The item history list
While you may review the shortID history with the channel_history plugin, the sid plugin also has it's own internal store which offers more flexiblity, this can be invoked by typing 'sid list' and by default it shows the last 10 identified items however this can be changed by typing sid max number e.g. 'sid max 20'.

Listing ranges
The list command also accepts specifying ranges e.g. 'sid list 2 5' will show items 2 to 5, 'sid list -3' will show the last 3 items and 'sid list 20' will show item 20 to the last identified item.

Listing specific fields
Another neat feature of the list command is the ability to specify a subset of fields to show for example i've just finished a crafting session and I want to review which items were mastercraft I could type 'sid list quality'. To specify more than one field separate each field with a space, for example after consecrating my tankset I want to see the armor and what affects were added I could type 'sid list -16 ac affects'. The full keyword can also be used to output all fields for example 'sid list full'.

Managing your preferences
To save your preferences type 'sid save' and to load them type 'sid load', to revert back to the defaults type 'sid reset'.

Other features
How to output equipment you are wearing to a notepad window
Another useful feature of the shortID plugin is the ability to output all the stats of all your worn equipment to a Mushclient notepad window, to do this type 'sid note' followed by 'ideq'.

Note: This page maybe out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. For the latest refer to the change log and ask questions on the mush-z channel

Mush-Z has been especially designed with blind users in mind and can be used with
Jaws for Windows, NVDA, Window Eyes and Hal. Some the features of this client are:
* Hotkeys to quickly check your hit points, mana, movement, experience and more.
* Sounds for most important events, including auctions, fighting, skills, spells, notifications and channels.
* It uses variables so you don't have to remake your aliases all the time, useful in groups.
* Automatic string shortening to speed up reading.
* Heavy duty filtering of repetitive strings, such as spellcasting and skills that already
have associated sounds. Use the 'filter' command for a list. These are in addition to the
spam filters built into Alter Aeon.
* Ability to deposit/withdraw, or give someone all your gold at once.
* Ability to memorize directions to areas. It can even intelligently remove backtracks.
* Sounds for every health condition, for both you and your enemies.
* Prompt monitoring using audio progress bars or text alerts.
* Configurable ability to recast spells when they fall, either for yourself or for group members.
* High quality music and sounds to enhance game play.
* Base client supports heavy-duty scripting as well as triggers, aliases, hotkeys, com-objects

Getting started
Mush-Z is easy to use, but before using it, there are a couple of things you'll need to do
to get the client working properly with your screenreader. After you've done those things,
you'll be ready to connect to Alter Aeon.

Once you have installed Mush-Z on your computer, run Mush-Z. There should be an icon on your
desktop. If there isn't, open your My Computer window and navigate to the directory where
Mush-Z is installed. Look for the file called Muschclient.exe and press enter to run it.

Once you have Mush-Z running, you might need to help the client load the right plugin to start
speech. Mush-Z automatically tries to detect which screen reader you are running, but if
this doesn't work, you'll need to manually add MushReader.xml to your plugins. To do this,
press the 'alt' key, then 'f' for the file menu, and arrow down to the global preferences
menu item. Press enter to open the dialog box.
This dialog box has multiple tabs across the top, as do many Windows programs. You can
use control+tab to get to the tab you want to modify. In this case, we're looking for the
tab called "plugins." You can get there by pressing control+tab nine times or by using your
screenreader's review cursor and left clicking on the plugins tab. Do whatever works best for you.
Once you've reached the plugins tab, use your tab key to get to the "add" button. Press
enter on it and then press shift+tab to get to the list of plugins. Add MushReader.xml. Once
you've added your plugin, tab over to the ok button and press enter. That is all you need
to do to hear text from the mud.

Newbie tips
when you start mushZ for the first time, you will periodically get useful tidbits of information
about common and less-common features of the client. Reading these tips is a good idea, but
if you do not want to see them automatically, type config showtips to disable them. You can
access the tips in your worlds folder, under ctips.txt.

Connecting to the Mud
Connecting to the mud is easy. In most cases, starting MushClient will automatically connect
you to the game. If it doesn't connect automatically, open MushClient, and press control+o.
Open the Alter Aeon folder in your Mush-Z directory, then press enter on alter_aeon.mcl. If
you want Alter Aeon to start automatically from now on, you can open up global preferences
from the file menu, and under the worlds tab, choose the add current world button, then choose OK.

Once that is open, you should hear your screenreader say MushReader initialized". Then, press
ctrl+k to connect to the mud, and type commands as you would in any other client. If you've
never played on Alter Aeon, you'll be asked if you want to create a character. Press the letter
"y" and press enter to start the character creation process. Follow the prompts to create
your new character.

Coming back from other clients
here are some tips:
* If you have the spam filter for fighting enabled so you don't see the dodge/parry/miss
messages, feel free to turn it off now. There are sounds for these actions and your reader
won't say them.
* I recommend turning on the zt channel since it's where all of our chat about Mush-Z goes
on. Type %connect zt". This is where you can ask for help, exchange ideas with other users,
and connect to other blind people on the game.

Hotkeys
Mush-Z has many hotkeys that will help you during game play. The function keys in particular
are mapped to many different features; the ones that don't control Mush-Z can be used with
server-side aliases to let you easily program them. For a complete list of all hotkeys, you
can use the 'hotkeys' command.

Information hotkeys
* Alt-h shows your current and total hitpoints.
* alt-m shows your current and total mana.
* alt-v shows your current and total movement.
* Alt-x shows how much experience you currently have.
* Alt-t shows you the previous mob you were fighting and what percent of its hp it had left.
These numbers will only update if you get into melee combat with a mob.

Sound and configuration hotkeys
* ctrl+l: redo/reload. If the game is acting weird, you might be able to use this instead
of restarting the client.
* shift+escape: abort any mud commands.
* ctrl+f12: turn off sounds. belongs to lua_audio
* ctrl+shift+f12: turn off speech. belongs to the plugin
* alt+f10: lower currently selected volume.
* alt+f11: raise currently selected volume.
* alt+f12: switch between selected volumes.
* alt+s is the same as typing config speedwalk. If you have speech enabled, it will stop
speaking about half a second after you enter a room,and will speak the exits. this is good
if you are walking fast through well-known areas but you don't know exactly where to turn.
The reason it stops about half a second after you walk to a room is so you can hear the room
name partially.
* Ctrl-alt-enter: toggles whether speech will be interrupted when you press enter.
* Ctrl-enter: toggles auto retyping. This feature allows you to repeat the last command
you typed by pressing the enter key without typing anything into the command window.

Action hotkeys
* f3 will get all items from a corpse and will sac it for you
* Alt+p: enter portal
* alt+e: stand
* alt+d. sleep
* ctrl+alt+l: goldlog. logs gold changes to a notepad window
* ctrl+alt+o: toggle output capturing on and off

The movement pad
The movement pad is not what you think. It's not the number pad. It's a revolutionary system
for moving around the mud. Here are the keys for use with the movement pad: all the keys
use the alt key modifier.
* alt+i - north
* alt+k - south
* alt+l - east
* alt+j - west
* alt+u - northwest
* alt+o - northeast
* alt+, (comma) - southeast
* alt+n - southwest
* alt+r - up
* alt+f - down

Mapping
Mapping uses Mush-Z's notepad feature. The notepad is a window external to the game that
is used to put text on. Every time you move or follow someone in a group, the directions
you take will be written down in a notepad separated by semicolons. You can copy these
lists of directions out of the notepad and paste them into the game to speedwalk to
locations, create speedwalk aliases, or just save them in a text file so you can
remember how to get to different places.

The notepad also remembers when you cast refresh and 'climb direction', so that speedwalk
aliases won't fail due to lack of movement.

To enable or disable this mapping feature, press alt+shift+m. If you want to see the current map
that Mush-Z has collected, press ctrl+tab and look at the text. You can save (ctrl+s), copy
to the clipboard (ctrl+c), or do whatever you want with that text.

Stealth mode
If you have the 'stealthy movement' skill, you can move while hidden by using the 'sneak'
command. Stealth mode automatically sets up the movement pad so that it automatically
uses the sneak commands, instead of regular movement commands.

To enable or disable stealth mode, press alt+shift+s.

Volume controls
The volume control in Mush-Z is very customizable. There are four kinds of sounds that
Mush-Z plays: sound effects, area music (the music that is played for each area that
you visit), ambience (the noise for the terrain that you are currently in (ocean,
river, forest, etc), and battle music.

Mush-Z can play these four kinds of sounds at different volumes. To configure this, use the
Alt+f12 hotkey to switch between sound effects, area music, ambience and battle music. Once you are in the option
you wish to configure, use alt+f11 to raise the volume and alt+f10 to lower it. This is best shown with
an example:

Imagine you are playing the game and the area music is too loud. Press alt+f12 to get to the
area music volume control, and press alt+f10 to lower it. Then, you can press alt+f12 until you
return to the sound effects volume control.

It's possible to raise the volume of the area music and ambience so that it's louder than
your sound effects. This isn't recommended, because the music can prevent you from hearing
important warning sounds.

Aliases
There are a lot of defined aliases that might prove useful on your journeys. What's an alias?
It's a keyword that represents a series of commands. It can be a shortcut for casting a spell
with a really long name, or it can be a word that runs several commands. Aliases can save
you a lot of time and can prevent typos during a critical fight. The following section explains
some of Mush-Z's preconfigured aliases here. You can also set your own, either in Mush-Z
or using the in-game 'alias' command.

Variable controlled aliases
Mush-Z works in conjunction with variables on Alter Aeon. Variables are like containers. They
hold a piece of information, just like a bowl can contain soup, cereal, or ice cream. If you
want to use a piece of information over and over again, put it into a variable. A variable
can act as a sort of placeholder so you don't have to keep typing the information repeatedly.

Alter Aeon's built in variables are useful. By setting a variable, you don't need to create
new rescue/heal aliases constantly when your group members change. Variables even work for
casting offensive spells, stabbing a mob, or when fighting in the pk arena.

To use a variable alias in Mush-Z, you have to set up the variables first. Variables on Alter
Aeon are remembered between logins, just like aliases.

The variables used by Mush-Z aliases are:

* v: As in victim, used for rescue and heal aliases for hitters, etc.
* k: Killer - used as your target to cast offensive spells, even in pk arenas.
* t: Tank
* v1,v2,v3: More victims

To create a variable, type "var v name" like this: "var v John". That variable sets a player
named 'John' as the person you will heal or rescue in a fight. For example, the "rev" alias
will rescue $v, which in this case is John, which is the variable you set.
If John leaves the group, and Charles takes his place, you can just type "var v Charles" to
start rescuing Charles instead when you type rev.

Variable aliases
* hev, he2, he3, het: uses healing touch on the victim or tank that just got hit and is in trouble
* cnv, cn2, cn3, cnt, cnk: checks health of tank, victim or attacker. Very useful when healing in groups.
* ret: rescues tank
* rev: rescues victim
* re2, re3: rescues victim 2 or victim 3
* cbk: cast ball lightning killer
* cck: cast cone of cold killer
* ch2, ch3, cht, chv: heals victims 1 2 3 or tank
* cmk: cast magic missile killer
* csk: cast crystal spear killer
* hark: cast harm killer
* conk: consider killer
* curt: cure crit tank
* curv: cure crit victim
* dik: (spelled in D I K) cast dispel killer
* bok: c icebolt killer
* ffk: cast frost bite on killer, then flee
* faek: casts faerie fire on killer
* fok: follow killer
* frok: frost bite killer

Normal aliases (no variables)
These aliases can be used without setting a variable and sometimes require extra arguments.
Note that '*' (an asterisk character) represents whatever you type after the alias, also
referred to as any following arguments.

* bw: moves you backwards in the game - the opposite direction you last went to. Useful for
when you flee, and want to go back to a mob.
* bad *: bank deposit, * represents the gold you want to deposit
* baw *: withdraws the specified amount of gold from the bank
* bada: bank deposit all deposits all your gold
* bawa: bank withdraw all withdraws all gold from bank
* bsc: bloodsac corpse
* cn: plays a sound indicating your health condition
* ds *: drops and sacs *
* fa *: adds a friend to your list.
* fame *: checks fame of specified player. This uses the who list, so only players who are logged in will work.
* fif: casts firefield
* ga: get all
* ga *: get all *
* gac: get all corpse
* ggc: get gold corpse
* gns: group purpose noshow
* lic: look in corpse
* mn: show mana
* mv: show movement
* nlist: shows all the skills/spells that you haven't learned yet. You need to be at a trainer for this to work.
* of *: order followers (charmed mobs) to do *
* opd: open door
* opd *: open door direction
* opg, opgs: open gate(s)
* ot: scan
* ph: pray here
* po *: pickpocket *
* rank *: tells you how well you know a spell or skill
* rp: replays the last page of chan events
* qt *: displays quests from a given area that need to be completed
* sacc: sacrifice corpse
* sbs *: casts sickening touch, shocking grasp and burning hands on a given person
* sk: displays a rundown of all your skills and how well you know them
* sl: sleep
* ssf *: soulforge two souls of the given type from your configured container
* st: stand
* systime: tells you current mud time.
* taf *: targets and follows a given opponent
* tarn: target noone
* tnl: displays a percentage saying how far you are to getting your next levels in all your classes
* uo *: unlock %1 open %1
* usage *: tells you usage, current and total, of a channel. This is the number of messages
sent on it. When a channel's current usage falls to 0 the chan is deleted.
* v *: short for the 'variable' command to set or change a variable
* lag: checks your current connection lag

Configuration
Mush-Z provides an easy way to configure its features. By using the "config" command, you
will access the configuration screen. This screen consists of a combo box with options in
it which are mostly self explanatory. (Some of the less obvious ones will be explained
later.)

When you want to exit the config screen, hit the escape key or cancel. All changes are saved
once you make them, so canceling has no effect on the configuration. Your configuration is
also saved between logins and restarts, unless the power goes out or Mush-Z
is closed abnormally. You can save your configuration manually by doing ctrl+s.

Music and Sounds
Mush-Z adds richness and depth to game play by providing high quality area music, combat,
spellcasting, and ambience sounds for the various terrains found on Alter Aeon. There is also
music for battles which changes as you or your enemy get hurt. You can configure these options
in the config screen by using the following options:

* Area Music - background music for areas
* Area Ambience - background ambience soundtrack for each area
* Random Ambience - louder ambience sounds that play randomly
* Battle Music - enables or disables battle music
* Battle Music Mode - whether battle music tracks your health, or the health of enemies

The battle music mode controls whether you want the different music to play depending on your
health or your enemy's health. If you are a new player, your health's music is recommended.
However, once you are used to the heartbeat scheme, you may want to switch to mob health so
that you can get a quick approximation on how hurt it is.

Condition alert sounds
In addition to the battle music, Mush-Z has some sounds to alert you of your own health. When
you use the 'condition' command or the 'cn' alias, the mud sends a string of text related to
your current health. This string will also be sent as you are hurt in a fight.

For instance, if you type 'cn' you should hear either a heartbeat sound or spoken feedback.
Which one you hear will depend on your health condition scheme. Type 'config scheme' to
change it.

The heartbeat scheme works like this: The slowest, normal heartbeat indicates you are in excellent
condition. As you get hurt, the heartbeat begins to speed up. When you are at big nasty wounds,
you will also hear beeping with the heartbeat when the string is displayed, and faster when
you're pretty hurt. At awful condition you will hear a different alarm indicating danger,
when you are mortally wounded you will hear an agonized voice, and if you die you'll hear
an ending musical epitaph.

The default scheme is the spoken one, and you'll hear different voices saying your health
condition instead of heartbeats and sounds.

The scheme you use can be configured on the config screen under the option 'health condition
scheme'. You can choose between spoken and heartbeat modes.

The number truncator
The number truncator is enabled by default and it truncates some large numbers to make them
shorter. For example, if you have 7838473 experience, instead of reading out all 7 digits,
the truncator will report the number as '7.8mill'.

To turn this option on and off, use the config screen to change the 'number truncator' setting.

Death quote voiceovers
With this option, you'll hear a random voiceover when you kill a monster. Some of these
voiceovers can have offensive language. They're off by default, so you'll need to turn
on the 'play death quote voiceovers' config option.

Pick up random/unique items automatically
When you kill something, Mush-Z automatically tries to see if the corpse contains unique items.
If a unique item is found, it's picked up automatically and stored in the container configured
in the option called 'container used for item keeping'.

To disable this feature, use the 'pick up random unique items automatically' config option.

The audio prompt
The audio prompt tries to replace the text prompt that would normally be read with sound
cues instead. Because the sound cues are much shorter, you can much more easily keep track
of your resources when in combat. The sounds used are:

* Your mana, indicated by an energy wheel type sound.
* Your movement, indicated by a stony clonk.
* Your experience, indicated by a quiet chime.
* Your enemy's health, indicated by a beeping sound during fights.

By default, the sounds raise and lower in pitch depending on their status. For your enemy's
health, movement and mana, the higher the pitch, the better. For your own sounds, when it
goes lower in pitch, it indicates that it is worse. For example, if you are walking around
the mud you will hear the movement's clonk sound going down. Eventually you'll be too
exhausted and you will have to rest or refresh yourself. On the other hand, the higher
pitch the experience chime is, the closer you are to leveling.

If you don't like the sounds to change their pitch to show their level, you can set them to
use stereo panning instead. In this mode, if the sounds are to the right, the value is higher
than if they are to the left. For experience, the more to the right it is, the better.

The last option is text: If you want to know the exact values and you don't want to hear prompt
sounds, you can choose the text option. You will see things like 58% mana, 87% move, xp 35%, etc.
While this does give more information, it can take quite a bit longer to read out the
information.

The recast configuration
Note: Alter Aeon now includes a built-in recast option. It holds several advantages over the one Mush-Z offers:

* There is no risk of it causing the game to think you are botting.
* It allows for the configuration of a mana floor, so spells only cast if you have a certain amount of mana.
* You can go AFK and properly show as idle while continuing to recast.

However, Mush-Z's recast feature is still available if you wish to use it.

The recast feature allows you to define different sets of spells that Mush-Z will always try
to keep active on your character. You can define an unlimited number of these sets, and you
can switch between them easily with the "zrecast switch" command.
If you have not used recast before and you type 'zrecast', a new set will be created for you.
This set has all spells enabled for recasting except bone armor and bone shield.

Don't worry about not knowing a spell listed for recast, as Mush-Z knows which spells you
know and which you don't, and will not try to cast a spell you don't know.

To configure which spells you want to recast, use the zrecast command by itself.
It will bring up a window with a combo box full of spells which you can enable or disable
by hitting enter on them, just like in the configuration screen. Once you are playing, and
if a spell listed for recast falls off your character, the spell will be recast until
it's back on.

You can create a recast set using the "zrecast create <name>" command. When you create
a set, you can use the zrecast command to configure which spells you want to recast in this
set. If you want to create a set that already has the configurations of another set, use the
from keyword, for example: "zrecast create fire from elemental".
To switch between sets, use the "zrecast switch <name>" command. You can remove a set
by using the "zrecast remove <name>" command.
Possible zrecast commands are:

* zrecast on,off - toggle recasting on and off
* zrecast list - show the list of sets
* zrecast create <name> - create a new recast set
* zrecast create <name> from <name> - create a new recast set using the spells from another set
* zrecast switch <name> - switch to another set
* zrecast remove <name> - remove a set entirely. Note that you can never remove the default set.

The zrecast command typed by itself shows a list of spells in the current active set that you
can enable or disable by clicking ok on a spell. when you hit cancel, your changes are saved.

Short ID
Showing stats of equipment you have is traditionally hard to do, as you cannot copy and
paste each line of text without a lot of editing. Short ID combats the problem by condensing
all the item requirements and effects into a single line. In the config screen, you can choose
to have short ID appear in your history buffer under the short ID category, or for it to also
appear instead of the normal identify display. The default option is output, as some players
are more familiar with the server-side display, but still want to be able to quickly distribute
equipment information.
The short ID all setting configures whether short ID displays to the all history buffer
as well as to output.
ShortIDComma separates various item effects with commas, allowing the screen reader to
pause between the item's effects so that they are easier to understand.

Fighting sounds
You will hear sounds as you fight on Alter Aeon. There are sounds for most skills, including
failed disarm/trip attempts, kick, leap, bash, parry, dodge, miss, etc. There are sounds
for casting offensive spells as well.

There are a lot of sounds, and it may take you a while to recognize which sounds are which.
If you'd like to browse through the soundpack to hunt down a specific sound, you can go to
the /worlds/alter_aeon/sounds/ directory in the MushClient install and play them out to see
which ones are used for what action.

About channel sounds
Channels can be public or private on Alter Aeon. A channel lets people with a shared interest
talk on the game without disturbing the entire community of players. Channel sounds are a
very good way to know when someone has just said something in a channel that you are connected
to. Mush-Z has sounds for most channels, including say, group tell/gt, clan tell, tells
and replies, my zt channel, xp, gossip, newbie, arena events and auction.

For channels without a special sound, a default will be played instead.

The recall command (ctrl+u)
The recall command is a Mush-Z keystroke that is very useful. If you press ctrl+u and type
some text, Mush-Z will display a notepad containing all lines with this word or phrase. It is
useful in certain situations, such as when someone gets something from a corpse, when you
have died and want to know which skill you lost, etc.

The filter command
To reduce the amount of text you get from the game, Mush-Z has a number of filters you can
enable or disable. There are filters for spells, skills, combat, minions, and a handful of
other things. Most of these are turned off by default so you can read along as you hear the
sounds, but as you get familiar with the game and sounds, you might want to turn some of
these filters on so your reader says less things.

You can use the 'filter' command to display and change the filter settings.

Storage preview and storage capture
Storage capture is a nice way to get certain items out of your storage locker. For example,
you can tell the storage capture alias to get every wearable aging item in your locker and
put it in your container. Here's how it works:

Go to your recall. You'll need to be at a recall site to access your storage locker.

Do a test preview to see if the capture is suitable. For example:

storage preview -wearable +mana 20

The preview will display with something like:

Testing capture of -wearable +mana 20
Preview found 26 items, with a weight of 142 pounds.

That sounds reasonable, at only 26 items and 142 pounds. Now you could type:

storage capture -wearable +mana 20

That'd grab every single one of these items and put it in the container configured in the
config screen, container used for item keeping. Here are a few more useful examples:

storage capture -spellcomp +level 25 -level 30

This will capture any spell components between level 25 and 30 and put them in your container.

storage preview -wearable +size 2

This might help you find equipment to increase the size of your character.

storage capture +manaregen 4

Will capture any pieces with 4 mana regen or more (this is actually 2.0 mana regen or more.).

Eqlist Feature
Xerahttp://wiki.alteraeon.com/index.php?title=Output_functions_plugin&diff=4076Output functions plugin2019-08-21T13:24:42Z
Xera: new page

The output plugin allows you to do many things. If you press ctrl+alt+o, everything that's
sent from the game will be put in a notepad window. Press ctrl+tab to get to it. You can review
text, copy and paste. The problem with this is that when new text arrives, the cursor bounces
down. To prevent this, Mushz uses a buffer to store new messages until you get out of the
notepad. When you get out of the notepad either with ctrl+tab or alt+tab, new text is put
at the end, and you are free to go back to it.

You can also review the output using a set of commands: ctrl+shift+y and n to go to top and
bottom of the output, ctrl+shift+u to go to the previous line, i to read the current line,
and o to go to next line.

Selecting text
The 'output functions' plugin lets you select text. By using the commands to review output,
ctrl+shift+u, i and o, you can select many lines of text to be copied to the clipboard. Here's
how it works:

Go to the first line you wish to select and press ctrl+shift+space. Your reader will say:
selection start. Go to the line you want the selection to end on, and press
ctrl+shift+space. If you just want to select the current line, press ctrl+shift+space
twice. When you press ctrl+shift+space the second time, your reader will say: selection
copied. This means that the line or lines are now copied to the clipboard and you can
paste them anywhere.

Output functions plugin keys
* ctrl+shift+c: Clear output and start anew
* ctrl+1 through crtl+0: Say last 10 lines received. Twice quickly copies to clipboard.
* ctrl+shift+u: Previous line
* ctrl+shift+i: Read current line
* ctrl+shift+o: next line
* ctrl+shift+y: Go to top of output
* ctrl+shift+n: Go to bottom of output
* ctrl+shift+s: Copy all text from output to a notepad. Depending on the size of your output
window, this could lag your client by 15 seconds or more.
* ctrl+shift+space: First time it is pressed starts selection, pressed again copies selected
text to clipboard.

Screen reader substitutions
MushReader's substitutions are a very nice way to prevent getting spammed with certain texts
from the mud. They are processed directly by the screen reader and can ignore the text, or
say something entirely different. Here's how it works.

The format to add a new substitution is:

subst add text==substitution

That is: 'subst add', the text you want to replace, then 2 equal signs and the substitution.

There is a special substitution, '!skip' (the word 'skip' preceded by an exclamation point),
which will ignore the line and make your reader not say anything. Here is an example:

Say you are a necromancer, and you don't want your clay man to show up all the time when you
type look. Find the line on the game with your clay man and copy it. For this, you can
use the output functions plugin. Type look, press ctrl+shift+n to go to the bottom of the
window, and find the line that says:

( 6)A crude clay man stands upright here.

Press ctrl+shift+space twice to copy that line. Twice because the first time would start
the selection, and again to copy. Since you only selected one line, only this line will
be copied. Then type the following command:

subst add ( 6)A crude clay man stands upright here.==!skip

You can type !skip (skip with an exclamation point before it) to make your reader ignore
that line with the clay man. Alternatively, you could type something else such as clay,
or clay man. That way, whenever the long line about the clay man is displayed, your
reader will either ignore it, or say what you put.

Channel history is a Mush-Z function that saves important events such as channel messages,
spells falling, unique items found and more. These messages can be heard with your screen
reader, copied to the clipboard or pasted in the command window for easier sending.

By default, the channel history starts listening to the 'all' category so you can read everything
that happens. However, you can always switch to a different category. The most used categories are:
* all: Saves all messages.

* Alt+shift+space: copy selection
* Alt+page up/down: move up or down by 10 messages
* Alt+home/end: move to the top or bottom of a category. Each category remembers the newest 100 messages.

Xerahttp://wiki.alteraeon.com/index.php?title=Eqlist&diff=4073Eqlist2019-08-21T13:12:51Z
Xera: new page

The eqlist feature is a Mush-Z based alternative to Alter Aeon's eqsets. Eqlist has no limitations,
is about as fast as eq-wearing aliases, and does not require you to create the alias yourself.

Important concepts
Why do players make sets of equipment?
Alter Aeon has tens of thousands of different objects, each of which is different from
almost any other object in at least a couple of ways. The effects on a piece of equipment
may make it more suited to one set than another. For instance, a piece of equipment with
damroll by 4 would work well in a hit set because damroll helps you hit harder. It would not
work well in a mana regen set because mana regen is not affected at all by damroll.

Players quickly realize that wearing a set of eq focused on one particular task, i.e. mana
regeneration, causes them to be more efficient and effective in the game. However, once a
player begins to accumulate many pieces, it can be hard to sort through tons of equipment
to wear a set. This is why a computer database of equipment sets is useful, hence the eqlist
function.

How does eqlist work?
Eqlist works by memorizing what equipment you are wearing at the moment and linking it to
a name that you specify. Names can be as long as you want, but cannot contain spaces. For
example, if you were creating a set for hitting you might call it hit because the shorter
the word, the faster you can switch and the less chance you will have of making a typo.

What are eqlist modes?
Eqlist modes control how thorough the eqlist function is when switching sets.
* Meticulous

The slowest but most careful mode. Each piece of equipment you are wearing is removed and
switched out for the corresponding piece in the now-empty wear location. This mode also allows
you to create a slightly different set from normal, for example, you may have a set for mage
cast level, but you want to create a separate set with most of your magecast equipment and
some high firesave equipment for a mob that breathes fire at you. The only downside is that
it is painfully slow, unless you don't have to change out a bunch of pieces. Then it might
even beat the other modes.

* Fast

The fast mode first checks to see how many pieces of equipment in the current set are the
same as those you want to wear in the set to which you are switching. If this number is higher
than 6, Mush-Z will use meticulous mode to wear the pieces that don't match. If it's less
than or equal to 6, Mush-Z will remove everything you are wearing, put it all in your
container, and take out the new set and wear it piece by piece. This mode prevents hassles
relating to equipment in multiple wear locations from being worn in the wrong place. It is
also fairly snappy, and is a good compromise between meticulous and lightning. It's the default
mode, and, unless you are sure of yourself, is probably best left alone.

* Lightning

Lightning mode works by cutting the corners that make the other 2 modes slower. Read the lightning
mode warnings section if you plan to use this mode extensively for eq changing. All of your
equipment is removed at once and puts it in your container. Then it checks to see how many
items you can carry. It first gets your weapon and wields it, then grabs everything from your
new set that it can and wears it. It then keeps grabbing items from your container until your
set is complete. It's extremely quick, but it's unreliable for a number of reasons.

* Lightning Mode Warnings

Lightning mode doesn't actually check whether the container you used to make the eqlist
has your eq in it, unless it is a tensor. When creating an eqlist in lightning mode with a
tensor's floating disk, always make sure the container name is the full word tensor and not
any shortened form of the word, like tens, ten, or any other keyword for the disc like floating
or disc.

Lightning mode also doesn't care about what location your eq is worn in. It is strongly suggested
to not use lightning mode for sets of equipment that have equipment worn in multiple wear
slots. Otherwise, you could find you have to remove and wear a few pieces in the correct locations
after Mush-Z is done switching.

Eqlist commands and Functions
Type eqlist without any arguments to get an overview of what you can do. Each command will
be listed here as well with a more detailed explanation. Note that you can use eql instead
of eqlist to make your life a bit easier.

Eqlist help
Eqlist help is exactly the same as typing eqlist by itself. It's provided because Alter Aeon's
eqset command also allows you to type eqset help to get information on commands.

Eqlist create
Syntax:
eqlist create <name_of_set> <name_of_container> <mode>

This command creates a set with specified name, container name, and optional mode. The container
name and set name must be included though. It takes all the equipment you are wearing to make
the set. You can type meticulous, fast or lightning as the mode. This is also the command
you use if one of your existing sets has changed. You can simply wear the equipment with the
appropriate changes and recreate the set to update it.

Eqlist delete
Syntax:
eqlist delete <name_of_set>

This command will delete a set of equipment from the eqlist table. You will not lose your
eq if you use this command, but you can no longer wear that combination of eq automatically
unless you create it again.

Eqlist wear
Syntax:
eqlist wear <name_of_set>
eqw name of set

This command wears a new set of equipment, governed by the eqlist mode. After the set is done
being switched to, you will get a timestamp of how long it took to switch. Use this to benchmark
which mode is the fastest for each set for you. Note that you can't do anything while Mush-Z
is switching out your eq for you.

Eqlist list
This lists all your sets, in case you have so many that you have forgotten which ones you have.

Eqlist show
Syntax:
eqlist show <name_of_set>

This command shows the names of equipment in the specified set. Make sure you specify an
argument. If you don't, Mush-Z will show everything in every set, which, if you are like me
and have over 20 sets defined, can cause over 5 seconds of lag.

Eqlist move
Syntax:
eqlist move <name_of_set> <new_container>

If you have multiple containers and want to move your equipment from one container to another -
for example, if you have just bought a shiny new weightless and you want to get your heavy
tanking pieces out of a tensor - you can use this command to move everything. You won't hear
anything, but you will have a couple seconds of lag as Mush-Z moves all the items.

Eqlist change
Syntax:
eqlist change <name_of_set> <name_of_container>

This changes the name of the container that the specified set is stored in, without moving
anything. This is most often used if you have a problem switching to a set and the game spams
you with messages about how you can't seem to find a piece to wear. This command is not used
often.

Eqlist mode
Syntax:
eqlist mode fast/lightning/meticulous
eqlist mode <name_of_set> fast/lightning/meticulous
eqlist mode all fast/lightning/meticulous

The first line allows you to set the default mode used for wearing eq. Default mode is used
if the equipment set you want to wear doesn't already have a mode specified. The second line
lets you set the mode for a particular set of equipment, and the third line lets you set the
mode for all sets.

Eqlist clear
Syntax:
eqlist clear

This command gets rid of everything. Be careful about your finger placement; there is no confirmation
about whether you really want to get rid of everything. It will be gone immediately. That's
why it's good to export your equipment sets to a backup file, which is the final command we'll cover.

Eqlist export/eqlist import
Syntax:
eqlist export
eqlist import

These commands export your current equipment to a backup file, or import it back in. This
is good if your working equipment database gets corrupted. It's also good to store before
you move to a new computer, so you don't lose your equipment sets that you have labored
|bio=Claimed by his followers to be the First and most powerful god, Dentin is
now known as the god of Creation and Building. Its priests construct
massive architectural wonders in Its name, and their teachings revolve
around observation, analysis, construction and progress. Dentin also does
not tend to interact with mortals, and has great tolerance for blasphemers
- meaning that mortals typically speak their mind about Dentin without
fear of retribution.

Dentins' relation to the other gods seems open to debate - while clearly a
power to be reckoned with, other gods often appear to be in positions of
greater power within the Pantheon. Rumor has it that Dentin does not
usually get involved in Pantheon affairs except to balance out gross
injustices against mortals or gods.

The tolerance typical of Dentin is limited however, as evidenced by the
great wars of a thousand years ago and the Mud University records of three
hundred years ago. In both cases, groups of mortals (and gods) came to
challenge Dentin directly for control of Creation. The ruins of the
broken half of the University serve as a stark reminder that for mortals
at least, challenging Dentin is not a good idea. The horrors of the
Eaters clearly show that what Dentin has created, he can also destroy.

|description=Beautiful long hair, bleached and faded to a golden color at the ends, dirty
brown at the roots. A skirt flares in the sudden breeze, and the screaming
yellow aramid shirt sports black marks where fire failed to penetrate its
fibers. A simple yet heavy chain hangs from the neck, with many keys
attached to a single stainless ring. Piercing eyes watch your stats
cautiously, as soft canvas sneakers pad silently toward you.
Dentin's Mom
In real life Dentin's Mom sadly passed away after a traffic accident and Dentin likes to tell nymom jokes on bovine in reverence and to keep her memory alive. This has permeated into the Alter Aeon universe where during the 24th Anniversary event a mob called Kester paid homage by performing a series of mymom gags.
|bio=Claimed by his followers to be the First and most powerful god, Dentin is
now known as the god of Creation and Building.

This has permeated into the Alter Aeon universe where during the 24th Anniversary event a mob called Kester paid homage by performing a series of mymom gags.
|bio=Claimed by his followers to be the First and most powerful god, Dentin is
now known as the god of Creation and Building.

The 24th Anniversary was a celebration written and orchestrated by the builder Tanthas. The overarching story was that Dentin's attention had been wandered away from the world he had created and the priests of Dentin were worried. It began by players portiing to the offices of ZagDahl where they were given special permission to enter the sealed catacombs beneath the unholy temple to find out what had been going on. The plot then proceeded to unfold revealing a highly imaginative and amusing storyline spun from a quasi-history of the mud, the players and Dentin.

|schedule=

The narrative was revealed over the course of a weekend with the first part starting on Friday 18th, the second on Saturday 19th and the third and final instalment released on Sunday 20th. The event was wrapped up on Monday 21st with everything been shutdown by 6.30am server time.
|areas=
The Office of ZagDahl, high priest of Dentin
This was where the fun begun and provided the quest hub for each of the three instalments. In the offices were ZagDahl, high priest of Dentin and his assistant ZigDahl, acolyte of Dentin who would later receive and check each of the holy artifacts.

Within the sealed off portion of the unholy temple of Dentin
Deep under the temple the sealed catacombs were guarded and patrolled by mumified priests, incarnates, mad acolytes, golems and demons which players defeated on their way to reach dentin.
Somewhere within the mind of Dentin
Filled with meta imagery this construct was divided into zones including the salon, the junk shop, Sexy Sadie's, Quantum heights, Abstraction way, Isolation Boulevard, Baseline Road and the Dojo, It featured mobs such as the Lag monster, master wu hu and the bassist Grover, and it symbolized the many aspects of Dentin's persona.

Dialogue
Upon entering Chuckles bar and the Society for the prevention of Dents, Kaster and preventer in-chief respectively launched into an extended and humous monologue, the former based on Dentin's Mom jokes, and the latter believed to parody how some players had in the past become disproportionately angry and upset over certain game balance changes, forming protest campaigns and ranting in-length on the subject.
Kester
{{MUDdisplay|
Jo Kester says, 'You know, Dentin's ultrarationality annoys a lot of players, but you know who else it annoys? Dentin's mom!'
Jo Kester says, 'Dentin likes being rational, but he doesn't like death. He's real adverse to it. He's always looking at immortality research. I don't care myself, but I"m not the only one, you know who else doesn't care about death? Dentin's mom!'
Jo Kester says, 'Dentin's mom is the source of 90% of the tense silence on bovine. Dentin trots out his mom, and the place goes quiet. Well the people with any taste go quiet. '
Jo Kester says, 'You're thinking the same as me, damn Dentin, that's heartless, but you know who else is heartless? Dentin's mom!'
Jo Kester takes a drink from his glass.
Jo Kester says, 'You remember that zombie apocalypse that happened a few years ago? I hear it's going to happen again. I talked to their leader, it's, you guessed it, Dentin's mom!'
Jo Kester says, 'But Dentin's mom has her good points: she never nags, she never tells me to clean up, but she is sort of lazy, just lies around all day!'
Jo Kester says, 'Back in the old days, there was this guy Gamlin. He always tanked in groups and always got people murdered. You know who else is a rotten tank? Dentin's mom!'
Jo Kester takes another swig from his glass, hiccups, trips over his own feet, and manages to recover without spilling a single drop.
Jo Kester says, 'Dentin's mom is the explanation for lag! I mean, everything can outrun Dentin's mom!'
Jo Kester says, 'you're thinking, man he's cruel ragging on Dentin's mom all the time, but Dentin is just as bad as I am, hell, he's worse, and he doesn't get paid for telling all those Dentin's mom jokes. Charlie, I am getting paid for this aren't I?'
Jo Kester says, 'I'm not? just the booze?'
Jo Kester says, 'Ok this gig is dead. So is Dentin's mom!'
Jo Kester struts about the stage, burps, shouts, 'I love you Locane!' He tries to focus on the crowd again, but seems to be having some difficulty doing so.
Jo Kester says, 'You know how Kenai got exiled don't you? Dentin's mom said Denty, this Kenai person is a bad influence, I don't want you playing with him any more. Tell him he shouldn't come round to our cosmos after today. The next day, Kenai's history, Dentin's readying the ban hammer, and Dentin's mom is saying I don't know what you ever saw in that Kenai guy anyway!'
Jo Kester says, 'you've been a great crowd? You ready for more?'
Jo Kester pauses and waits his hands flung up dramatically, but the crowd is not responding as hoped.

The preventer in chief
{{MUDdisplay|
The preventer in chief says, 'We have to do something about Dentin dentin every new spell, skill, mob, item, or class on the game.'
The preventer in chief says, 'The titanium fiasco was bad enough, but then there were potions, necromancer, Thantos the Executioner. The list goes on and on.'
The preventer in chief says, 'We harass Dentin with constant pleas, messages, mudmails, board posts, and channel sends about the newest spell, class, or item that needs to remain pristene and overpowered and the way we like it.'
The preventer in chief says, 'It avails us nothing, it must be acknowledged, but someone has to attempt to stop all these dents!'
The preventer in chief says, 'Our latest fight is over experience for high level players and the constant denting of the best areas. We are currently running a Bovine campaign, a board campaign, a mudmail campaign, and getting up a petition. It's probably pointless, but'
The preventer in chief throws his hands up in despair and shrugs helplessly.
The preventer in chief says, 'You see the problem though, right? How much of a contribution can I put you down for?'
The preventer in chief holds out his hand expectantly while tapping his foot impatiently.

Deeper in the mind of Dentin
The final part of the story where players would float around in darkness battling stellar furies, flying boulders vacuum dragons and nebulous concepts, while attempting to locate the baby universe to use the quantum prayer wheel on.
The museum of player nostalgia
The Museum of Player Nostalgia was reopened to give newbies a taste of the game's past. At the entrance guests were greeted by a carnival barker, on loan from the Taber Bros Carnival, who explained how the museum worked and collected an admission fee. Moving around the museum spectators were treated to mobs reminiscing about how the mud was back in the day.
|quests=
Figured out where Dentin's attention was in 2019
Once players had made their way through the sealed off portion of the temple it was discovered that Dentin's attention had been focused on a new universe.
Raided the treasuries of the unholy temple of Dentin and retrieved . . . . something!
While attempting to locate Dentin under the temple players came across a room of gold and a queer metallic thing which when picked up completed this quest.

Gathered Dentin memrobelia to build the necessary device in 2019
Players entered Dentin's mind to recover four artifacts, each personifying a different aspect of his character including some of his hobbies and interests.
Junked a junk dealer to gain death metal
A piece of death metal was discovered in a junk shop it represented that Dentin is a huge death metal music fan.

Gave the mad hair dresser a dressing down to gain Dentin's holy hair tie
The holy hair tie of Dentin was found inside the salon.

Belted the master Wu Hu
The black martial arts belt was found inside the Dojo.

Recovered a guitar for bass reasons
The base guitar was found on the dance floor inside Sexy Sadie's. It represents that Dentin is an accomplished guitarist.

Brought Dentin's attention back to Alter Aeon in 2019
{{MUDdisplay|
ZagDahl looks up as you speak to him.
ZagDahl says, 'We have figured out how to get Dentin's attention, but we need someone to project themselves into Dentin's mind again to use it.'
ZagDahl reaches down beside his chair and lifts an odd cylindrical contraption with a mithril bar sticking out of it attached to a darkwood handle.
ZagDahl says, 'This is a quantum prayer wheel. It will use Dentin's own mental constructs to gain his attention. It is very delicate, so be careful with it.'
ZagDahl says, 'If you lose it, you must give me 100 gold to purchase a new one.'
ZagDahl says, 'This place is full of points of light. Simply use the wheel on any point of light you find. When you find the correct one the wheel will flash brightly.'
ZagDahl says, 'Some of the mages of the Mage Guild have argued, somewhat unconvincingly, that the points of light might be stars or groups of stars. If that is correct, then you might have to find the right star or cluster of stars to use the wheel on. We think that if it is a case such as this, then you must find a very large bright group of stars.'
ZagDahl says, 'Dentin's blessing go with you. This place seems much more strange and alien than the last place you went. I hope that you survive it as easily.'
ZagDahl silently hands over the quantum prayer wheel. It is heavier than it looks.
ZagDahl holds his hands up in benediction, then shoos you on your merry way.
Recall, event join 163, and look for the proper point of light to use the quantum prayer wheel on.
}}
The saga was concluded when players used the quantum prayer wheel on the baby universe catching Dentin's attention. It humourized that last year a lot of Dentin's development time had been eaten up with work for Google and a new space-based mud project named Allter Stella, meaning that Alter Aeon had been somewhat neglected, with Shadowfax and Draak picking up the slack.
